Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind,
and reaching forth unto those things
that are before, I press toward the
mark for the prize of the high
calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3 : 13~14

Memories can be quite wonderful,
but dwelling upon past failures,
missed opportunities, etc., can be
devastating , robbing us of the JOY
of the present ~ leading only to a dead
end. This poem God has given me
speaks volumes about "dwelling on the
on the past ~ may it speak to our hearts.
God Bless You,

Love in Jesus,

"Land of What Might Have Been"

Being a mental traveler
can often be real nice;
But, one place avoid at any
cost, please follow my advice.

It's a lonely, gloomy town,
where only heartache closes in;
Saddest burg known to man,
LAND of WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN!

The weather's always cloudy,
forecasts offer only rain;
For one ray of golden sunlight
would expose the bitter pain.

Now "Birds of a Feather's a
rundown, dark & shabby dive;
where brok'n & beat'n misfits,
meet, lookin' more dead than alive.

There's "If only I hadn't" Horace
singin' the blues moody & sad;
And, "cry me a river's" the
theme song of "Winston ~ I
Wish I Had".

And, "Ingrid Indecision", as
always sits idly by the door;
Unable to choose right or left,
just goes nowhere any more.

While "Artie Anger" broodingly
shoots daggers from face to face;
If looks could kill would annihilate
every patron in the place.

"Gillie Guilt" & "Roopie Remorse"
run the meanest game in town;
where the elevator's button only
flashes down ~ down~ down!

One wheel that's forever spinning
call'd "Maze of Past Regrets";
is the favorite haunt of losers ~
who step up to place their bets.

Now "Herbie Hopeless and
"Dilly Desperate" a favorite duo
there; command a busy table
called "Welcome to Despair".

Join'd by bosom buddies,
"Syd Shatter'd Dreams" &
"Mugs Misery"; whose shutter'd
eyes as mirrors, reflect neglect
and poverty!

While "Millie No-Motivation's" a
vagabond finding no resting place;
And "Sly Self-Pity" a tormentor,
wields the wand of sure disgrace.

Streets are fill'd with noisy trav'lers,
but no happiness is ever heard;
For JOY was buried long ago,
without uttering a single word.

Coming for a hasty visit, to
reminisce of yesterday;
never dreaming to encounter,
sudden death along the way.

Whose final resting place is
the local mortuary ; owned by
"Mother of Mistakes", called
"Good Intention Cemetery".

And ~ when "M of M" gave me a
smile that chill'd me to the bone;
with knarl'd finger pointin' to
JOY'S crumblin' tombstone ~

I shook my head in disbelief,
felt my feet lift off the ground;
Depression nippin' at my heels,
like a rabid, hungry hound.

Well ~ I escaped that hellish prison,
running from my reverie;
Out of breath ~ with opened arms,
I welcomed " SWEET REALITY"!

SO ~ if you're tempt'd there to
travel, pray they DO NOT let you in;
to walk ~ ~ ~ the

And we know that all things work together for
good to them that love God, to them who are
called according to his purpose.

Romans 8 : 28

So, our brother Paul was granted wisdom to let
go of ALL those things in his past because there
was such a great work for him to accomplish
after his conversion. Ah ~ my friends, let us do
the same with the help of the One who has called
us. When the past rears its head bringing those
thoughts and emotions that can bring us low; let
us run swiftly into the arms of Him who holds
our lives in His strong hands. Let us ask Him
to plant His Word deeply in our hearts to remind
us we ARE A NEW CREATURE ~ old things are
past away ~ BEHOLD ~ ALL THINGS ARE NEW !
Oh ~ praise His glorious name !

Thank you,
Father God, for helping us leave
those things behind and press toward
the mark for the prize of your high
calling in Christ Jesus. We just
praise you for being "The GLORY and
the LIFTER of our heads". Father
God, we need your presence so
badly to reassure us YOU are taking
care of ALL those things in our past
that would drown us in sorrow and
literally steal our JOY, if not for YOU.

Help each of us, precious Lord, to
remember the great price Jesus paid
for OUR NEW LIFE. We thank YOU
that YOUR mercies are new every
morning , so no matter what our
pasts may be ~ we begin anew each
day and don't have to repeat those
mistakes we laid at the foot of the
cross. Praise You, Lord.
In the lovely name of our Saviour, Christ Jesus,
we pray. Amen & Amen
