'Twas the most He could do
in the garden where mankind's
sinless footsteps trod . . .
as the Serpent beguiled,
self~will wed rebellion,
wounding the heart of God ~

'Twas the most He could do
in that place of prayer
Garden of Gethsemane . . .
where tears like blood seared
Immanuel's face, He cried,
"Let life's bitt'rest cup pass from me" ~

'Twas the most He could do
facing Pilate's acquiescence, "Crucify Him",
such injustice of Jewish Sanhedrin . . .
rejection by His own, painful scourgings,
cruel cross of death
to redeem mankind from sin ~

'Twas the most He could do
to bury the rags of self~righteousness
we couldn't rid ourselves of alone . . .
set captives free, conquer
death, hell and grave, ahhh
Grace of God moved that heavy stone ~

'Twas the most He could do
to transport His sacred blood
to where sin and God's mercy meet . . .
HE IS RISEN, our Saviour, Jesus Christ,
so glorious, our sin~debt paid
HALLELU YAH ~ 'tis SO SWEET ~

Lamb of God, Rose of Sharon,
Lion of Judah, Prince of Peace,
so precious, Faithful and True . . .
accept His wondrous Gift of Salvation
give Him your heart today
'Tis the least we can do !!!
