Searching Shepherd, I faintly here you,

calling me back home again;

from the pathways fill'd with danger,

that are bringing bitter pain.

Like a sheep without a Shepherd,

wanders 'round and 'round alone;

I am feeling lost and empty,

clear direction all but gone.

Life now seems an endless struggle,

no green pastures here abound;

On the path that I have chosen,

rest and peace are never found.

I am longing for still waters,

that would surely wash away;

dust of fear and such confusion,

from dead~ends of yesterday.

How I need Your oil of gladness,

to anoint my weary brow;

Your Staff that brings such comfort,

OH ~ Lord, to feel them now!

Your gentle voice is growing clearer,

Lord, you must be very near;

And, the sound, Oh, Gentle Shepherd,

is sweet music to my ear.

You have found me ~ Searching Shepherd,

Oh ~ lead me to that higher ground;

Where the tempter's power is broken,

and Your perfect Love is found !
