" MY  DARLIN'  HUGGY BEAR "

Twenty-eight years  ago  tonight,
we  vow'd  before  God to  stay  together;
through  thickness  or  thin,  the  good, the bad,
in  sunshine  or  stormy  weather.

Sometimes  it would  have  been  so easy
for  you  to  just  walk  away;
growing  weary  of  more  rain  than  sunshine,
BUT,  instead, my  Huggybear, you chose to stay.

In  spite  of  my  faults  and  my  failures,
my   lack  of   mercy  and  grace;
You've  taken  the  bitter  with  the  sweet,
bit~the~bullet  ~  stayed  in  the  race.

You've  helped  me  through  darkest  valleys,
given  comfort   in  deepest   woe;
In  grief,  you've  brought  consolation,
when  my  head  was  bow'd  so  low.

You've  caused  me  to  even  feel   beautiful,
when  the mirror  said,  "You're so  plain";
Your  smile has been  my umbrella,
protecting  me  from  the   rain.

You've  been  my  husband, my  lover ~  friend,
throughout  twenty~eight  years,  today;
Thank  you for  showing what  love really  is,
in   your  own  inimitable  way.
