THE LOVEBRUSH

The little foxes spoil the vines,

with such cunningness and art;

Even as wolves in sheep's clothing,

they disguise their darkened hearts.

Lord, it takes your "Lovebrush",

to expose their subtle lies;

Beneath justification's false veneer,

they skulk about in disguise.

These unwanted foxes can creep in,

spoiling our vines so tender;

We need your "Lovebrush" of mercy,

Lord, to restore to former splendor.

Foxes of jealousy, lust and pride,

stubbornness, mistrust and doubt;

Leaving their grimy, ugly stains,

Bruising within and without.

The foxes of condemnation & guilt,

so cleverly stalk their prey;

Oh Lord, we need your Lovebrush,

to brush these intruders away.

Through one little door left unguarded,

they'll slink in unaware;

Stealthily set up their strongholds,

before we realize they are there.

We need those "Times of Refreshing",

to melt our hearts once again;

Filling us with strength and power,

to remove those cobwebs of pain.

For the "Little Foxes" just cannot stay,

where your "Lovebrush" freely flows;

Because no hiding place remains,

they're left completely exposed.

So give us courage to examine ourselves,

Your "Lovebrush" our only guide;

that can uncover dens of iniquity,

where those little foxes hide.

Yes~we'll always need your "Lovebrush",

Lord, to expunge the foxes' lair;

Leaving no room for their dwelling,

in hearts filled up with prayer.

Hearts will be clear as crystal then,

Translucent as purest gold;

When love is our only motive

and giving not getting our code.

Dear Jesus, please dip your "Lovebrush"

into that sweet, sweet crimson flow;

Paint our hearts, Oh Lord, once more,

make us as white as snow.
