"Who's
there?"
As
knocking
she
hears
"It's
me", he
replies
. . .
As she
opens
the door
a single
crimson
rose
appears
she
views
through
misty
eyes ~

"Happy
Valentine's
Day:-)"
"Another
gift for
you"
"Sweets
for the
sweet" .
. .
Heart~shaped
box of
chocolates
smiling,she
wonders
‘Can
this be
true'
cheek
touches
cheek to
greet ~

Shyness
was a
stranger
to her,
as well
as, him
Free
spirits
full of
charms .
. .
Would
this
liason
bring
regret
should
she
think
this a
whim
so
enticing
~ his
opened
arms ~

He had
been
imprison'd
ahhh,
she knew
bonds so
well
what a
pair
they'd
make . .
.
Whirlwind
romance
~
wedding
would
this be
Heaven
or hell
did I
hear a
heart
break? ~

Morpheus
dealt
the
cards
addiction
sang its
ugly
tune
"Crime &
punishment"
AGAIN .
. .
His blue
eyes
filled
with
tears
"Who
threw
this
tragic
rune?"
She
asked,
‘Can we
bear
this
pain? ~

A year
behind
the bars
She,
faithful
day to
day
between
them
letters
flew . .
.
The
trial ~
the
costly
verdict
LIFE . .
. her
heart in
pieces
lay
It's
over,
this she
knew ~

One day
a
courier
came
bearing
note &
single
crimson
rose
glasp'd
gently
in his
hand . .
.
Between
the
tear~stain'd
lines
she read
~ "I'll
e'er
love you
Heaven
knows,
let it
end as
it
began" ~

They
didn't
stay in
touch
he
thought
it best
that way
to his
decision
she
acquiesced
. . .
Yet,
fragrance
of a
crimson
rose
she
still
hears
him say,
"Happy
Valentine"
~ah, you
know the
rest!
