It came upon a midnight clear
carolers are singing . . .
faintly in the distance hear I
resonant Yule bells ringing ~
Visions dance before my eyes
of Cherubim and Seraphim . . .
Peace on earth ~ good will to
men
bow they, to adore Him ~
Swaddled in a manger, lay,
a tiny new~born King . . .
Mary's babe ~ Immanuel
Hark, the herald angels sing ~
Melodious tones from golden
harps
bathe me in wondrous joy . . .
LOVE is streaming from the heart
of Mary's Baby Boy ~
Shadow~laden visions come
unbidden to my mind . . .
Mary's Baby Boy full grown
His arms the soldiers bind ~
A thorny crown pierces His head
angry mob screams CRUCIFY . . .
cursing cruel obscenities while
awaiting Pilate's reply ~
Washing his hands, Pilate
exclaims,
"No fault, in Him, I find . . .
more frenzied and determined
mob becomes one murderous mind ~
Envision I, Golgotha's Hill
Mary's Baby Boy I see . . .
upon the cross sheds precious
blood
for sinners just like me ~
Swaddled now in death's garment
entombed behind a stone . . .
three days conquering death &
hell
our sin~debt to atone ~
Visions of Glory enrapture now
as Christmas is drawing near . .
.
from manger to cross to Heaven
Mary's Baby Boy, Jesus, so dear
!
